My grandfather, Cy Bond, was a pilot. He spent his life flying and teaching others how to fly.
When the United States entered World War II, he was 42 years old. He volunteered. During the war, he flew transport planes on one of the most dangerous routes over the Himalayan mountains.
This picture is of my grandmother, dad, and grandfather. Each proudly wearing their wings.
I have always loved this photo. It reminds me how lucky I am to have such a strong, hardworking family that has always been dedicated to the service of others.
