Story by Erik Swindle

Little Rock, AR

My great uncle was an Italian immigrant that came to the states for a new life and opportunity. To gain his citizenship, he joined the United States Army, where he was sent to back to Europe to fight for the US in WWII.

This is his field camera that he carried everywhere for two and half years. This camera for us represents not just a part of family history, but also a symbol of adversity and determination he had to become a US citizen and to grow our family.

His stories he would tell me based on his photo diary and field diary have been one of the most cherished things I have from him. I miss the amazing charismatic story telling (and probably a bit of embellishment) to this day.

Mi manchi ogni giorno zio
