Story by Kenny Kinley

Conway, AR

I’ve never been a “watch guy.” I am constantly on my phone, so I never saw the need for a watch. But now, I wear this cheap Timex watch.

This is my dad’s watch. My dad passed away a few weeks ago after a three-year battle with leukemia. He had other ailments too, but leukemia is the one that brought us closer together.

My dad was a great husband and father, but I was not the easiest kid to raise. I took him to his first visit to the UAMS Cancer Center three years ago, and we made that trip one to two times a month.

We had a lot of time to talk about things both in the past and the future. I wear this to honor him and remind me of those great times together driving back and forth from Conway to UAMS.
